Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) announced in January that the PTCB Examination will be available in continuous testing format at Pearson Professional Centers nationwide begining on April 1, 2009. PTCB also announced that exam candidates will receive an official pass or fail result at the test center after the completion of the exam, effective immediately.

Since 1995, the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) has certified over 330,000 pharmacy technicians through the examination and transfer process.
Academy of Pharmacy Technicians
Purpose: The purpose of the academy is to unite pharmacy technicians, provide social, educational and legislative activities geared to the needs of technicians.
It is the academy’s goal to promote and provide support for all pharmacy technicians and encourage national certification.
Objectives:
To provide programs focused on improving and benefiting pharmacy technicians.
To identify and support legislative initiatives.
To take an active role in informing pharmacy technicians of membership.
Membership: All academy members must be a member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association. Members of the VPhA will be eligible to apply for membership in this academy upon registration through the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Apply by contacting VPhA. Additional dues required.
Pharmacy Technician Registration Information
PTCB encourages candidates to visit the PTCB website (www.ptcb.org) for information regarding examination content. Candidates can download a copy of the test content outline, take the practice exam, and register online for the examination. The online application continues to be the most popular and convenient way to register for the examination.
