About the VPhA Research & Education Foundation


The Virginia Pharmacists Association Research & Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was incorporated in 1980. The Foundation's mission
is to:
  1. to promote health and wellness through development of pharmacist-provided patient care services; and
  2. to encourage, provide for, and engage in research, education, and the advancement of the profession of pharmacy.

VPhA Foundation Funds:

Addington Fund: Supports programs and initiatives to advance the entrepreneurial spirit of independent community pharmacy.

AIP Fund: Funds the Academy of Independent Pharmacists’ course, Entrepreneurial Pharmacy & Independent Pharmacy, at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy, Hampton University School of Pharmacy and VCU/MCV School of Pharmacy

Auxiliary Student Loan Fund: Provides funding for an interest-free loan of a maximum $3,000 to one senior student pharmacist from each Virginia school of pharmacy. Click here for more information on the Auxiliary Student Loan program.

Hutchinson Fund: Provides education and training in areas where pharmacists can bill for services, such as the Pharmacy-Based Immunization Training.

John C. Shilan Fund:
Provide a $1,000 award to a selected young pharmacist who has demonstrated an interest in added credentials that will enable them to provide specialized patient care services based on additional knowledge and skill.

Morgan Institute Fund: Provides education and information to citizens, public officials, and pharmacy professionals on topics related to healthcare.

Rooke Lecture Fund: Supports a stimulating annual Rooke Lecture on pharmacy management issues.

Unrestricted Fund:
Enables collaboration in public health initiatives such as RxPartnership.

VaPAPP Fund:
Virginia Pharmacists Aiding Pharmacists Program is dedicated to the early identification and intervention of substance-impaired pharmacists and student pharmacists. Click here for more information on VaPAPP.
