Future of Pharmacy Practice in Virginia Task Force

The Virginia Pharmacists Association Board of Directors is excited to announce the launch of the "Future of Pharmacy Practice in Virginia" Task Force.  This task force will seek to address a variety of issues and opportunities affecting the profession of pharmacy in the Commonwealth.

Future of Pharmacy Practice in Virginia Task Force will:

  • A multi-year project that will leave no stone unturned as VPhA looks to guide and shape the profession for what the future will hold.
  • Goals will change over the period of the task force as additional areas of focus are identified.
  • The Task Force members will consist of the committee chairs and will work with the VPhA Board of Directors and their committee members on accomplishing the goals set by the VPhA Board.
  • While there are many opportunities for the pharmacy profession to play a vital and visible role in improving health outcomes for the citizens of the Commonwealth, there remains a number of issues that we must address as a profession if we look to move EVERYONE in pharmacy forward over the next 20 years.

The current goals of the task force are:

  • Address workplace issues across the profession
  • Identify and develop billable clinical opportunities for the pharmacy profession
  • Provide feedback for the direction of education for pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.
  • Address issues and opportunities with pharmacy payors (e.g., Insurances, PBMs)

We will be looking for the thoughts and ideas from EVERYONE across the Commonwealth as this task force moves forward. From exciting opportunities such as Provider Status and MTM to issues that have had a drastic impact on the profession for many years: staffing issues, insurances, and critical drug shortages, VPhA promises to consider every opportunity, issue, and concern impacting pharmacy. If we look to move forward as a profession, we must do so TOGETHER.
